About
My name is Ruby Tuesday and I am currently in the process of completing my final year of studies at the University of Northampton, on the BA (Hons Fine Art Painting and Drawing course.
I am an associate of NN Contemporary and am currently preparing to start a residency in September with Harefield School.
On this website you will find a range of work from my time at university and links for other places to find me.
About my practice
My practice is currently exploring themes of ‘constructed’ landscapes, through the manipulation of imagery to construct new ‘realities’. The medium I use the most is oil paints, however I am constantly mixing media and experimenting with the effects and textures you can create. I have previously worked in other media including ink drawings, etchings and other prints.
My work is created using found imagery, from both online and analogue sources which I then collage into a new image. The result, when painted, is of a constructed ‘land’ which is almost out of this world and slightly hard to comprehend or make sense of at points. When creating my paintings I deliberately leave areas where you can see the slicing and splicing of the images when in the Photoshop development stage. This, combined with my collage of techniques when painting, is the cause of such questions. Without the moments of overlap, you may not be able to deduce for yourself that these are not your typical landscape paintings.
